Photographed by a Fiddler’s Elbow wedding photographer, Morgan and Tim’s rainy wedding at Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club in Bedminster, NJ was one for the books. The forecast was not on their side. But honestly? It didn’t matter at all.
First, let me set the scene. Fiddler’s Elbow sits on over 1,000 acres of rolling New Jersey countryside. The historic English stone manor overlooks the Lamington River. From the moment you pull up the landscaped drive, you know you’re somewhere truly special. I’ve photographed weddings at some of the most beautiful venues in New Jersey. Even so, Fiddler’s Elbow stops me in my tracks every single time.
As soon as the rain started, we had a plan. At Fiddler’s Elbow, there is the most magnificent sprawling tree on the grounds. We tucked Morgan and Tim right underneath it. The canopy was so lush and full that you genuinely cannot tell it was raining in the portraits. Instead, what you see is soft, diffused light — two people completely in their moment, surrounded by grounds so vivid they almost glow.
In addition to looking beautiful, the rain actually helped the photos. The air had that clean clarity that only comes after a good rainfall. The light was dreamy and even. Morgan and Tim were total champs who embraced every bit of it. Furthermore, their ease and joy comes through in every single frame.
If you’re a future Fiddler’s Elbow bride who’s nervous about rain: don’t be. This venue has you covered — literally.
Now, let’s talk about those yellow bridesmaids dresses. Morgan committed fully to the color. Her girls wore warm, bright shades of yellow that looked stunning against the lush green grounds. Moreover, that pop of color looks joyful and intentional in every frame — indoors and out.
The florals were equally beautiful. Whites, purples, and pinks made up the palette. It was romantic and classic without feeling predictable. Soft blush sat next to deep violet, with crisp white pulling it all together. The bouquets were full and lush. Additionally, that same color story carried through every detail of the day, from the ceremony straight through to the reception.
The Somerset Ballroom at Fiddler’s Elbow is simply stunning. It features floor-to-ceiling windows, golden chandeliers, lush drapery, and an inlaid wood dance floor. It feels grand and romantic. At the same time, it also feels warm and intimate — which is not easy to pull off.
Morgan and Tim’s reception was everything that room promises. The florals carried right into the ballroom, with whites, purples, and pinks filling the space in a way that felt completely cohesive. The cake was gorgeous, too — elegant and perfectly suited to the room. Meanwhile, outside those floor-to-ceiling windows, the rain fell over vivid green grounds while the chandeliers glowed inside. Truly, it was the best of both worlds.
First and foremost, only one wedding is held at Fiddler’s Elbow per day. That means the entire estate is exclusively yours — the grounds, the covered patio, the romantic outdoor fireplace overlooking the river, all of it. That sense of privacy is rare, and couples feel it from the moment they arrive.
Beyond that, the variety of settings here is incredible for photography. That magnificent tree is just one example. There are also stone bridges, river views, rolling meadows, and a beautiful spiral staircase inside the manor. Consequently, in every season, there is a stunning frame waiting around every corner.
Ultimately, what I remember most is them — how relaxed they were, how much fun they had, and how present they were with each other all day long. That comes through in every image. The yellow dresses, the purple and pink and white blooms, the glowing ballroom, and the portraits that look like they were made for sunshine — even though the clouds were rolling in the whole time. Without question, it was a perfect day. Rain and all.
